Reza Banakar
Reza Banakar is an Iranian-born Professor of Legal Sociology at Lund University, Sweden. Before joining Lund in 2013, he was Professor of Socio-Legal Studies at the Department of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of Westminster, London.〔http://www.soclaw.lu.se/en/reza-banakar〕
He was born in Shiraz (Iran) and moved to England in the 1970s, where he went to school and studied mathematics.
==Biography==
He studied law, sociology and philosophy at Lund University, where he also obtained his doctorate in the sociology of law and taught various socio-legal subjects between 1988 and 1997. In 1997, he moved to the University of Oxford to take up the Paul Dodyk Research Fellowship at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies (then based at Wolfson College).
Between 2002 and 2013, he worked at the School of Law at the University of Westminster. His research is within the areas of law and social theory, socio-legal methodology, legal cultures, ethnic discrimination, law and literature, and rights.〔http://westminster.academia.edu/RezaBanakar〕 Among his publications are ''Merging Law and Sociology: Beyond the Dichotomies in Socio-Legal Research ''(Berlin/Wisconsin, Galda & Wilch, 2003) 〔Review by Madsen, M. On 1 February 2013, he assumed the Chair in Legal Sociology at Lund University, Sweden. ().
